Nahyr Galaz Ruiz’s work in movement and choreography forms the foundation of her visual storytelling. With over two decades of experience as a choreographer and teaching artist, she has developed a performance-driven approach that centers the body as a primary vehicle for narrative.

As the founder and Artistic Director of JuxtaPosition Dance Theatre, Nahyr created original works, trained dancers, and developed curriculum for diverse communities across Southern California. Her work as a choreographer spans stage, education, and interdisciplinary performance, with a focus on emotional specificity, musicality, and embodied storytelling.

Her background in dance continues to inform her work as a director, shaping how she collaborates with actors, blocks scenes, and builds tension through physicality and presence. She approaches movement not as ornamentation, but as a storytelling tool; one that reveals character, deepens relationships, and gives form to what cannot be spoken.

Through both her choreography and teaching, Nahyr is committed to creating spaces where performers can access truth through the body, and where movement becomes a bridge between internal experience and external expression.
